Safety on a BB4 Desk Module

On a measurable.energy BB4 Desk Module a single appliance plugged in will trigger the safety service to 'trip' (turn off) the socket if: 

  • Current exceeds 5A for a 15 seconds.

When two or more appliances are plugged in the safety service will trigger a 'trip' if: 

  • Total current exceeds 25A for 60 seconds.

This is because the BB4 Desk Module has one point of control that turns on/off power to the whole unit. Desk mounted units have a 5A compliance requirement. measurable.energy Desk Modules conforms to this legal requirement and offers the benefit of reduced maintenance visits as our digital fuses do not need to be replaced.

The BB4 will no longer provide power and the indicator light will flash amber on the side that has tripped

The BB4 can be untripped be performing a soft reset. To do this you hold the two power buttons for 5 seconds.

After holding the buttons for 5 seconds the impact indicator will flash to acknowledge the soft reset. This applies to both online and offline BB4s.

The BB4 can also be untripped by logging into the Hub navigating to the TGU page and selecting the 'Reset Tripped Socket'' button under more information.
