Safety Warning
The m.e Power Socket shall be installed by a competent person, following all legal and good practice safety precautions in line with local Building Regulations. Please read the Installers Guide carefully and only install the m.e Power Socket in accordance with these wiring and safety instructions.
Before commencing any electrical work ensure the supply is switched off at the mains, either by switching off the appropriate consumer unit or by removing the appropriate fuse.
Wiring should be in accordance with latest edition of the IET regulations (BS 7671).
To prevent fire hazard always use cable of the correct rating, size and type for the application.
Any bare earth wires must be covered with appropriate green/yellow sleeving.
Warning do not exceed the 13A rating for the m.e Power Socket DG-2.
Wire Identification
Note - As from 1st April 2004 new colour codes for hard wire installations were introduced.
EARTH = Green/Yellow sleeving
Neutral = Black (pre Apr 04) / Blue (after Apr 04)
LIVE = Red (pre Apr 04) / Brown (after Apr 04)
Product Overview
The m.e Power Socket DG-2 is a replacement for standard 13A 2-gang Single Pole switched G-type plug sockets. The m.e Power Socket has extra functionality built-in, designed to make monitoring and control easier, automatically identifying and eliminating wasted energy and greenhouse gas emissions.

Installation
- Installers must be a Registered Competent Person and/or NICEIC Approved Contractor. Installers shall provide suitable Risk Assessment and Methods Statement (RAMS) ahead of the works, along with Minor Works Certificate (BS 7671) certificate upon completion.
- If replacing a 2-gang G-type power socket with a m.e Power Socket DG-2, note the cable connections and wire the m.e Power Socket DG-2 in the same way as the old power socket.
- Ensure the mounting box for either flush or surface mounting is appropriately sized for the m.e Power Socket DG-2, at least 25mm in depth. If a floor box is used, a floor box adapter plate should be used.
- Route the cable through the most suitable entry point of the mounting box. If a metal box is used, a protective cable grommet should be used.
- Cables should be prepared so a sufficient conductor length reaches the terminals. Strip the ends of the individual conductors so that an adequate length enters the terminals.
- Carefully arrange the wiring to lie along the edges of the mounting box, keeping the central area clear
- When connecting the m.e Power Socket DG-2 ensure that only the bare end of the wire enters the terminal, and no bare wires are visible.
Always tighten the terminal screws securely, but do not over tighten.
An earth connection should always be made between the mounting box earth terminal, and one of the m.e Power Socket DG-2 earth terminals.
If the earth wire is bare it is essential that it is sheathed with a length of green/yellow sleeving.
- Carefully position the m.e Power Socket DG-2 into the mounting box, ensuring that no wires are trapped between the plate and the wall.
Do not over tighten the screws, ensure both buttons are functional.
If supplied, fit screw covers.
- Once work has been completed correctly, replace the fuse for the circuit or switch the power back on.
- Test the m.e Power Socket DG-2 as if it was a standard power socket, including testing:
- Insulation resistance
- Polarity
- Earth continuity
- Earth resistance
- Once power has been restored following installation, the m.e Impact Indicator will flash purple and then change colour depending on the clients set up.
The m.e Power Socket DG-2 is now ready for use.
Service Warranty
The m.e Power Socket DG-2 will perform materially in accordance with this documentation and Master Service Agreement, with replacement of defective hardware available.
