01/06/2026 - BB4 Desk Extension Reaches End of Sale

As part of our ongoing product development and commitment to delivering the best workplace energy intelligence solutions, the BB4 Desk Extension will now be entering End of Sale (EOS) status.

This means that the BB4 Desk Extension will no longer be available for new purchases. However, this is not an end-of-support announcement. We will continue to support all existing BB4 installations and customers in line with our standard support processes.

What's Replacing the BB4?

The BB4 Desk Extension is being replaced by two new products designed to better support modern workplace requirements:

TGU Desk Module – Smart Extension Lead

 The TGU Desk Module is a desk-mountable smart extension lead designed specifically for individual workstations.

It provides:

Three smart power outlets for plug-in appliances
Integrated 65W USB-C fast charging
Support for charging laptops, tablets, phones, and other USB-powered devices directly from the module
A cleaner and more flexible desktop experience

For a typical workstation setup, users can connect:

Two monitors
One docking station

This leaves the integrated USB-C charging port available for charging a laptop or other personal device without requiring an additional power adaptor.

TGX Under Desk Module – Smart Extension Lead

 

The TGX Under Desk Module is a three-gang smart extension lead designed to be installed within cable trays and under-desk cable management systems.

It provides:

Three smart power outlets
Flexible installation within cable trays
A familiar extension lead experience for users
Energy intelligence and control for connected equipment

The TGX is ideal where under-desk cable management is preferred and where devices do not require direct desktop access.

How Do TGU and TGX Replace the BB4?

The BB4 provided four smart power outlets in a single desk extension product.

The new range takes a more flexible approach:

TGU is optimised for desktop use and adds integrated USB-C charging.
TGX is optimised for cable tray installation and traditional extension lead applications.

Rather than attempting to monitor every device at a workstation, measurable.energy recommends prioritising the appliances that consume the most energy.

In most desk environments, the highest-energy devices are typically:

Monitors
Docking stations
Task lighting
Desktop peripherals with significant power consumption

Lower-power devices such as phone chargers, speakers, or other small electronics can remain connected to standard sockets or cable tray power distribution where appropriate.

This approach ensures energy savings and energy intelligence are focused where they deliver the greatest impact while maintaining a simple and cost-effective installation.

Existing BB4 Customers

If you currently have BB4 Desk Extensions installed, there is no action required.

The BB4 remains a supported product, and measurable.energy will continue to provide support for existing deployments.

This announcement relates only to the availability of the product for new sales and does not affect the operation or support of installed BB4 devices.
